Alexander Taylor – Orb Aerospace
In Alexander Taylor’s junior year of high school, he turned a hobby of building drones into a venture to bring aviation to people who had none. This didn’t mean he wanted to raise money to send traditional planes to villages without aircraft. Instead, he envisioned a break from aviation’s outdated systems. With an innovative approach to aircraft, Alex hoped Orb would become the world’s largest “humanitarian air force.”
At the core of Orb’s mission is a VTOL aircraft designed to travel long distances and withstand rugged environments. VTOL, or vertical takeoff and landing, allows the craft to reach areas without runways or through challenging terrain. This technology eliminates the limitations traditional aircraft face. While helicopters also use vertical takeoff, Orb’s aircraft transition to forward flight using wings, giving them much greater range and speed. By decentralizing logistics, Alex sees the benefits it could bring to rural communities, military zones, and disaster relief efforts.
Alex wasn’t the only one who saw Orb’s potential. Thanks to his brilliant idea and efforts to gain recognition, Taylor was able to acquire several investors, including Peter Thiel through the Thiel Fellowship program. This opportunity allowed Taylor to learn under a mentor and gain the resources needed to begin his journey toward realizing his vision. In addition to his investors the United States military gave him R&D grants to assist in the production process
On a podcast titled “The Future of Aerospace,” Taylor speaks about his faith and his desire to build technology that serves people, not just profit. Alexander Taylor is working to restore a broken system in hopes of helping humanity which is, by definition, redemptive entrepreneurship. This Gen Z entrepreneur is leading a revolution in aerospace world, driven not only by innovation but by a deep sense of purpose through faith.

What an amazing calling that Alexander Taylor has. I see he is motivation to make the world a better place and is taking action in a specific and mind blowing way. I especially notice how he made a point to find a mentor to guild him. I am eager with anticipation to see an ORB plane fly.
