Gabby Goodwin – GaBBY Bows

Gabby Goodwin and her mother, Rozalynn Goodwin, are the founders of Confidence by GaBBY Goodwin, who are most known for selling GaBBY Bows. The GaBBY Bow is a genius reinvention of the popular hair clips worn by Black girls everywhere. In Gabby’s words found on her website gabbybows.com, she says, “Mommy and I solved the age-old problem of disappearing hair barrettes by inventing GaBBY Bows”. They combated said problem through their patented bow design featuring double-snap technology, securing itself to the ends of the hair from all around with no chance of falling out. The video below demonstrates how these clips work, which can also be found on their website.

GaBBY Bows have become quite popular in the past decade. It all started when Gabby was seven, when both her and her mom were fed up with losing hair barrettes, so they put their heads together to design the only non-slip barrettes on the market today. Since their initial launch in 2014, their business has received orders from all over the United States and are stretching across the globe. They are notoriously sold in Claire’s, a store targeted towards tween girls, across the US.

Hair barrettes are not the only focus of Confidence by GaBBY Goodwin. Her business branched out from the GaBBY Bow to sell Confidence brand hair-care products and children’s books based on their business’s start up and mission of empowerment. In addition to these products, Gabby and Rozalynn founded the Mommy and Me Entrepreneurship Academy to help other mother-daughter duos start a business through Confidence. The entrepreneurship academy has already helped about 50 girls across the nation start a business. Gabby’s innovative design, growing business, and active mission to empower young entrepreneurs won the grand prize of $200,000 at the Good Soil Capital Pitch Competition. With this prize, Gabby Goodwin will continue to expand her business and reach out to more young entrepreneurs.

These are so cute, and I love that they are more secure. I personally don’t ware barrettes anymore, but every girl has experienced losing some kind of hair accessory, such as a hair tie or bobby pin, it is a real issue. It is awesome that they found a way to make these better, maybe they can expand to more hair accessories!
