Fonzi Coleman – Bubbles and Blaze

Fonzi Coleman is a 14-year-old entrepreneur who started the company Bubbles and Blaze. This company is an eco-friendly vegan candle business that uses coconut soy wax and wooden wicks in order to prevent nature-damaging chemicals and products from being used. In addition, he uses handcrafted concrete holders for the wax that are reusable. Fonzi started this company as a project for his homeschooling curriculum. His mom wanted to teach him how to be innovative and problem-solving by having him notice the inadequacies of the things around him and by then having him think of ways to solve those problems.

During an interview, Fonzi talked about the problems that he saw around him growing up. He discussed how he learned that scents can have a helpful impact on stress and sadness which led him to think about candles. Through research he then discovered that a lot of candles from popular, big brands are made of harmful waxes. Having no prior experience in candle making, Fonzi started out his business by hand, and through trial and error has accrued over $3,000 in sales from across the nation up to this point. Coleman was also given the opportunity to have a booth set up for his products at the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, founded by Connor Boyack.

Fonzi Coleman is a perfect example of how one can go from having no experience and no ideas to a successful businessman and entrepreneur. Through experiment, hard work, and dedication, Fonzi was able to fulfil his dream of creating environmentally safe candles. He has even branched out to other bath supplies in addition to the candles. Looking forward, Fonzi wants to continue to grow his business nationally to reach all 50 states. He is also looking to start an online marketplace for farmers to sell their crops directly to the purchaser. He wants to serve as an example to people of all ages, and especially to younger kids, that no endeavor is unachievable.
