Jaffry Mallari – RSG RESURGENCE

Entrepreneur Jaffry Mallari, born in 1998, established his own streetwear brand in 2017 after encountering a series of metaphorical roadblocks. His longstanding appreciation of art and fashion pushed him to want to monetize his own graphic designs, especially within the realm of the clothing industry. By combining his two lifelong passions, Mallari established the brand NGHTPRWL, which was not as successful as anticipated and later morphed into what is now known as RSG RESURGENCE.

Interestingly enough, it took very little to begin establishing himself: $400 in government loans, which was initially meant for his studies. However, after applying to a prestigious graphic design university program and not making the cut, he turned to printing his designs on hoodies (and later, other forms of streetwear). The first 15 hoodies sold out in three weeks’ time. Mallari then took the money he had made and reinvested it into making a much larger order. This process was repeated over and over again until he found himself making six figures annually. RSG RESURGENCE’s militaristic and pessimistic undertones had finally managed to capture the attention of teens and young adults in accordance with current events.

Mallari’s approach to customer interaction is also a big factor in the success of his business endeavor. He prefers to maintain a personal relationship with his younger fanbase by engaging with and replying to them on the brand’s Instagram channel. Emails and DMs are frequently checked and responded to as well. This gives him a slight advantage, because the attention to detail is what can really set a brand apart from others. Overall, Mallari’s stubbornness and desire to seek knowledge is ultimately what helped him to overcome the challenges and negative feedback frequently standing in his way as a young entrepreneur.

In an interview with Forbes magazine, Jaffry Mallari said that he only hopes that RSG RESURGENCE becomes more recognizable in the foreseeable future. He has no specific amount of revenue he wishes to accumulate; rather, he has stated that “as long as it pays the bills, and helps me foster and grow the community I always dreamt of creating, I am all for it.”

    I think the fact that he frequently responds to emails and DMs sets him apart from the rest of the market, therefore helping him retain customers. I would definitely consider ordering from him especially because he’s in it for the community, not necessarily the money.
