Marine Tanguy – MTArt Agency
Marine Tanguy dropped out of her Art History program at the University of Warwick at the age of 21 to become the youngest gallery manager in Europe, managing Steve Lazaride’s Outsider’s Gallery. Two years later, she was approached by investors to open her own gallery, De Re Gallery. De Re Gallery continues to be inspired by Tanguy’s upbringing on the Île de Ré, trying to create balance and harmony while showcasing new artists and celebrity collections.

Two years after the opening of De Re Gallery, at the age of 25, Tanguy established MTArt Agency, which has landed her on the Forbes 30 under 30 list for Culture & Art. In her time managing galleries, Tanguy always felt that the world of art was elitist and made it far too difficult for young, talented artists showcase their art. When asked about her passion for underprivileged artists, Tanguy said, “90% of art professionals have once been asked to work for free in my sector while being an artist in London is incredibly expensive, yet this is where most of the opportunities are. What this means is that my industry isn’t about who is most talented but who can afford it instead.” In that same statement, she reaffirmed her love for talent and talented people – stating that this was the reason she created MTArt Agency.

So what is MTArt Agency? It is a talent agency for artists. They scout the field of art to find promising new talent, and then provide them with funding, materials, access, connections, and press exposure. This is a fairly simple idea – but it was new to the art world and is already spurring on global change.
Tanguy is truly an example to young entrepreneurs everywhere, managing her first gallery at 21 and creating a global agency at 25. Additionally, she is now a devoted mother to 3 children. I personally have been very moved by her story and message; her devotion to making art as it truly should be – open to everyone who has true talent – is beautiful.

I really like the statement: “her love for talent and talented people”, because its not intuitive to connect love of art to love of artist, but on cannot exist without the other.
