Tanner and Spencer Harrison – the Wolf’em Stick
As children, Tanner and Spencer Harrison loved the outdoors. They were (and still are) Eagle Scouts, and greatly appreciated nature, fun activities, campfires, and good company. A big part of this experience was eating food outside together. But there was something that they felt was limiting the experience: campfire sticks. Not satisfied with the limited use of regular campfire sticks they took inspiration from their mom’s laundry bucket handle and created something new: the Wolf’em Stick.
Since 2013, they have sold over 80,000 sticks across the US and been on Home Shopping Network to advertise their product. What is innovative about this invention is how this is a problem so small that nobody would really think to try and solve it. Which goes to show how many hidden opportunities there are in ordinary experiences in life.
I like how these brothers didn’t solve some huge problem but rather found a way to enhance an already enjoyable experience. Which goes to show not all inventions have to be on par with inventing the lightbulb, but they can just be small ways to make a good thing better.

Interesting, that’s a fun idea. I like how they took a basic idea, one taken for granted, and thought of some intelligent improvements. I would have liked to have read maybe just a couple of sentences describing the product though. I can sort of get the idea from the picture, but having it in text as well would be better.
As an Eagle Scout and lover of the outdoors, I always like seeing innovations regarding the outdoors, even ones that seem small like this. I know they described the product in the video and it shows it in the photos, but part of the exercise was to describe their product and innovation yourself. Overall, great job though.
I love camping, and I remember all the times that I felt inconvenienced by regular camping sticks- this was such a good idea to implement! I love that they took a really small problem and turned it into a business. That’s something really extraordinary about entrepreneurship- it pays to complain! It’s incredible that they were able to take a personal inconvenience and market it to others who also noticed the problem, but didn’t spend a lot of time dwelling on it. This is a mark of true creative thinking, and innovation!
I love going to the campfire and making some smores. I actually own one of these sticks as well!
I have roasted many items over a campfire; some were better decisions, and others…weren’t. Anyhoo, this looks like something right at home on any camping trip. I never would have considered wrapping dough around a stick in concept, but apparently it’s practically possible. I wonder how it tastes?
