Toby Brown- Beem
Did you ever think about how AI is too slow and doesn’t do all the mundane tasks for you? No? Me neither, but Toby Brown did. Toby Brown is a sixteen year old coder from London who had this problem and wanted to fix it. What started as a side project quickly flourished into more. He created Beem. Beem is an AI chat box for computers that do the mundane things that takes up your valuable time. An example is that it can fill in your calendar, reply to emails, and so much more!
Ever since Toby was little he had a knack for coding. At just seven years old he coded math games for himself to practice times tables. At twelve he launched his first startup and then he got a job at “Hat Club” as community engineer and then moved onto storytelling which was designing and managing the websites. In March of 2024 Toby left Hat Club to focus on Beem.
Toby founded Beem because he saw a problem with the chatbot, because we are still using the chat box that was built in 1988. So the interface wasn’t powerful enough to work for what he wanted. The action of having to prompt the AI takes too long, so building a new interface to make it more efficient. Beem is set to launch with in the next year as of 2025. Toby won a $1M investment from Silicon Valley in February of 2025. He said he would use this money to hire more people and then go to the United States to get more investments.
From Toby I have learned that the small side projects can turn into the big important projects. In addition, I have learned to never think something is too niche of an idea for it to do well.

This story is honestly really interesting. It’s surprising that our chatbots were still using a box framework from almost 50 years ago. It really makes you wonder why no one else thought about this problem.
Making an AI is a very modern way to innovate. It was also innovative of him to use his talents of coding to make a business out of it. Also, it is very interesting how an idea can start small but grow so big.
I know, with the future of AI and automation at the forefront of business, that a new tool to help automation with daily tasks is something heavily sought after. Beem is being used in thousands of automation software to auto reply to emails, check calendars, etc., and to think this came from a 16-year-old is something to marvel at!
