Zak Marks – Kitt Medical

Zak Marks is a young entrepreneur who studied design and technology at Loughborough University in the UK. When Zak Marks was a young boy, he discovered that he was allegoric to tree nuts and legumes after having a reaction to eating peanut butter. After receiving the diagnosis of his allergies, the doctors gave him an adrenaline pen for an emergency if he ever went into anaphylaxis. Throughout his younger years, Zak Mark’s mom carried the pen everywhere for him until he went to university. Once at university, he found out how inconvenient it was to carry around a bulky pen and hence would not carry it at all like so many in his same position. Because of the annoyance of carrying the pen that he experienced, Zak Marks designed an emergency allergy kit during his final year at university. The kits design took inspiration from fire extinguishers and defibrillators in the sense that they hang on the wall for easy access. Zak Marks founded the healthcare startup Kitt Medical with James Cohen using the design that he had in university. A little while after starting the company, Kitt Medical became licensed to distribute the medicines directly instead of making their clients buy the medicine elsewhere separate from the kit. These kits are now being used in businesses and schools across the UK. His company has made nearly $1 million in annual recurring revenue while saving lives in the process. Zak Marks took a problem that he faced and created a solution that continues to succeed to this day.
