Chase Dwyer – Carbon Ridge
Gen Z entrepreneur Chase Dwyer surprisingly did not start a business innovating washing machines or, for that matter, Dwyers. Instead, the young founder of Carbon Ridge saw a problem with the copious amounts of harmful carbon dioxide trans-ocean vessels were putting out.

Although many people forget about maritime shipping, this method of delivering globally traded goods is very important. Delivery through air freight is less environmentally friendly, but this practice of shipping accounts for less than one percent of global trade by volume. Maritime shipping, while more environmentally friendly, delivers around 90 percent of trade volume. With these massive ships traversing the water, Dwyer knew the oceans could be saved from a lot of pollution through a simple solution.

Carbon Ridge developed a reactor positioned next to the ship’s exhaust stack. This unit captures and separates carbon dioxide from the exhaust gases. Once isolated, the CO₂ is directed into a secondary chamber where it undergoes compression and liquefaction before being moved into dedicated storage tanks.
Dwyer’s goal for carbon ridge was not to become successful off his brilliant solution but to help in the efforts of decarbonizing the environment. Because of this deeper mission, he and his team created “the most modular, low cost and operationally efficient carbon capture solution in the market.”
The utility of Carbon Ridge goes beyond capturing emissions, as Chase also plans to convert the harmful output into fuel that can be used to power the vessel. At a young age Dwyer has pushed the horizons of both the carbon capture and fuel markets.
Chase’s journey is a strong example of how business can support both family and the stewardship of the world we are entrusted to care for.

I’m super interested in the renewable energy segment, and seeing things like this makes me hopeful for a way of preserving internal combustion engines! Very neat stuff indeed!
Wow, a sustainable, eco-friendly product produced for the benefit of diminishing carbon emissions from ships! This was a super fun read, and will look forward to seeing more about Mr. Dwyer. Also, very funny pun at the beginning!
