Me and the bees lemonade

While playing outside at the age of four a four year girl named Mikaila Ulmer was stung by a bee for the second time in a week. From that point forward she was terrified of bees and wouldn’t go near them. When she got older her parents encouraged her to face her fears and to research bees more. After a trip to a local library she suddenly had a change of heart and the more she researched the more she started to appreciate everything that bees do for the environment. Her new found joy quickly turned into sorrow though when she learned that the population of bees was drastically decreasing. This devastated Mikaila and she grew very distraught about the situation. However one day she had an idea to help all the bees. She decided to start a lemonade stand and put part of the sales money towards bee conservation efforts. Her company kept growing at a very steady rate and when she was nine she even landed a deal on Shark Tank with an investment of 60,00 dollars. Her company and efforts to help save bees grew so much that she was even invited to speak at the United Nations, but she couldn’t make it because of a school project that she had that day. Mikaila also comments in an interview on how she had to give up her childhood in some ways by not hanging out with friends and doing talk shows instead. Now at the age of 20 her business is worth 11 million dollars and is steadily growing. What’s cool about her story is that she was willing to give up on normal experiences to pursue her business. What really stood out though was how she took an experience that traumatized her as a kid and instead of living in that fear worked through it all and turned it into a multi million dollar business and is helping to inspire people to save the bees.
