Josh Feinsilber

Josh Feinsilber is a co-founder of Gimkit. Gimkit is an interactive online learning platform used in classroom. Gimkit allows students to learn and review content in a variety of different fun ways. Josh Feinsilber founded Gimkit at the age of sixteen for a high school project in 2017. In high school, Josh felt that he wasn’t fully retaining information learned in school. He realized that he only really learned when he was actively playing games to reinforce learning. He joined a project-based internship program and learned everything he needed to know to create Gimkit. Without the internship, Josh said that he would not have been able to create Gimkit. Josh quickly became passionate about coding, and he saw it as a business opportunity. Josh Feinsilber created Gimkit with just $100 and a laptop and now Gimkit is a multimillion-dollar business. With that he was also interning as a full-stack developer at two different companies.

Personally, I agree with Josh, I only really retain information while playing games that reinforce learning. Throughout high school my teachers used Gimkit a I saw a difference between when a teacher would use Gimkit/learning games and when they wouldn’t. Gimkit helps make school enjoyable and makes kids want to learn.

Josh Feinsilber’s story really inspires me because not only did he make Gimkit with just $100 and a laptop, but he was also so young. His story really shows that you can do anything if you have passion for it.
