Ricard Guillem: Cafler

At the young age of 16, Ricard Guillem identified a solution to an issue that everyone dreads. In order to tackle the issue though, it is first imperative that we understand Guillem’s background. He was raised in a family of mechanics, car dealers, and servicers. Therefore, at a young age he was exposed to the dealings with cars more so then the average person. It is due to this experience that he was able to identify an issue that he saw over and over again. That being the uncertainty of the common citizen when it came to any car issue. And by any issue, we are talking the car being serviced, repaired, and even the handling of paperwork, fines or changing of ownership titles. He even thought through much simpler functions like getting a car wash or refueling.

Now, of course, these are all things that are readily accessible, or in other words, there is not a scarce supply of people who can complete these tasks for you, but what Guillem realized is the tech industry had not really been tapped into when it came to such things like so many other industries had already. Thus Cafler was created. Cafler is an app where, as Guillem puts it, “the idea was to design a platform where car users could access anything they could possibly need at the click of a button.” What does this practically look like though? Well, customers can order a driver to pick up there car from where ever they may currently be and get any of the functions previously listed prior completed. For example, as you need to get your car washed but you also need to get your groceries for the week. A driver will pick it up, get it cleaned, and get it right back to you.

If you haven’t heard of the idea, as I hadn’t until recently, do not conclude that this is because the business is not thriving. I can confidently tell you that it is. The reason you may not have heard about it is because Guillem is from Barcelona, and all of the employees are currently scattered throughout Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, and London. But just in case you are not willing to take my word for it, Cafler has successfully partnered with Tesla, Volkswagen, and Mercedes thus far and Guillem fully intends to keep expanding.

This is a great example of a young entrepreneur, as it shows that we take in information in our environment throughout life, and it’s up to an individual to make use of this. Ricard Guillem was able to make use of the exposure he endured while at a young age to create success, thus portraying what a young entrepreneur should look like. Young entrepreneurs are everywhere and can come about anywhere in the world. Ricard is proof of this. This is a great blog entry!
