Resurgence
Jaffry Jan Mallari was born in 1998 and exemplifies what it means to be passionate about an idea and see it through to the end. When Mallari was in high school, he loved graphic design and started to look into ways to make money off of his art. His first brand was “NGHTPRWL”, which did not do so well. Instead of being all sad and defeated, though, Mallari thought critically and looked at different approaches. He then rebranded the company, calling it “Resurgence,” which points to his hard work and desire to stay in the same avenue, bringing back a successful brand. When Resurgence started, Mallari worked incredibly hard and did most of everything by himself. From designing to sourcing to fulfilling orders to handling all of the money, he did all of it from his parents’ basement. His business also started to see a lot of success because Mallari’s designs were so unique, and he would do things like limited edition clothes that people would ultimately pay more money for. Tapping into his Gen Z brain, Mallari also used social media to his advantage. One day, he went to a fast-food restaurant and while waiting for his food, he saw that he got 100 orders in one hour from social media alone! Mallari’s company continued to grow, and today it is making over six figures annually! Resurgence is a great example of hard work paying off and not accepting defeat.
