Palmer Luckey
Palmer Luckey is a visionary American entrepreneur whose groundbreaking work has reshaped both virtual reality and defense technology. Born in 1992 in Long Beach, California, Luckey was homeschooled and developed a passion for electronics at an early age. At just 16, after upgrading old video game consoles to make them mobile, he started collecting bulky VR headsets and tinkering with them, which led to the creation of Oculus VR in 2012. His breakthrough product, the Oculus Rift, helped revive the virtual reality industry and was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for $2 billion. After departing Facebook in 2017, Luckey founded Anduril Industries, a defense tech company aimed at transforming U.S. military capabilities. As of today, Anduril Industries is taking the reins of the largest project of its kind in history: the United States Army’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) program. By fusing artificial intelligence with cutting-edge hardware, Anduril has developed autonomous systems that have secured major government contracts, including a $642 million deal with the U.S. Marine Corps. As Anduril states, “Palmer integrates a consumer technology business model with mission-driven objectives,” enabling rapid innovation and deployment. In 2025, Luckey launched Erebor, a crypto and AI-focused bank, further demonstrating his commitment to disruptive technologies. He’s also a vocal advocate for American innovation and national security. Despite his success, he remains quirky and grounded applying annually to compete on Survivor. His blend of technical brilliance and unconventional charisma makes him one of the most intriguing figures in modern tech.

Incredible analysis on Palmer Luckey! I find it incredibly interesting how he took old VR headsets and it has come to be what we know now as the Oculus VR. Great work!
