In 2013, Mary was a new mom with a new baby and a mix of postpartum depression, fatigue, and confusion about her purpose. During this time of struggle and uncertainty, she was drawn to the idea of creating jewelry to represent the pivotal moments in her life that she had experienced. These pivotal moments consisted not only of the tragic times in her life, but also joyful and triumphant moments! She started to find joy in creating heartfelt jewelry that simply represented important moments in life, whether they were good or bad. By creating these jewelry pieces, she found that she was able to connect with other countless women. Women were able to connect with her by telling her their life stories which consisted of joys as well as heartbreaks. Mary was able to celebrate their joys but also be a comfort to them in their times of struggle and heartbreak. Her business started as a journey out of depression but quickly became a passion for connecting with women worldwide and helping empower them through life with the simple act of creating jewelry.

Made by Mary began as a one women passion project, but has grown into a team of artisans, designers, and customer service specialists. However, Made by Mary has not fallen away from their touch of homemade. This business prides themselves on the fact that everything is homemade. They still hand-cut every bar stamps each letter one by one, file, polish, and clean by hand. They do all this with the knowledge that they are creating something precious. Made by Mary is not just an average jewelry company, but they help women tell their stories by creating beautiful handmade works of art.
