The Entrepreneur for Entrepreneurs
Tobias Lutke was a young man and computer programmer from Canada with great ideas. Tobias had a passion for E-commerce, he first created a site for selling snowboard gear online called Snowdevil. Soon after creating Snowdevil he realized full blown E-Commerce was the way to go. With the help of two other young men Daniel Weinand and Scott Lake, he began the journey to create Shopify. He originally created the site in 2006 using Ruby on Rails programming system which allowed for any user to easily create a website (similar to modern Shopify). In 2009, just three years later, he added an Application Programming Interface (API) which allowed users to create apps and tools to sell to other Shopify users. From there people could download the apps to their Shopify stores to guide them on their entreprenurial journey.
With Shopify anybody could pursue a career in E-Commerce by creating their own business with ease. Shopify offers marketing tools, store design tools, inventory and fullfillment, print on demand, analytics, finance, and many other things. One of the coolest of these features is the print on demand, this makes it possible for anybody to start a clothing brand for extremely cheap and no funding. Apps like Printful take care of everything you need including creating the product and sending the product out to the customer. Shopify is the best place for young Entrepreneurs in E-commerce to get started, and this was Lutkes vision. he truly was the Entrepreneur for Entrepreneurs.
