Alexandr Wang

Alexandr Wang is a twenty-eight year old who started his first AI business when he was twenty-two. As a child he was very interested in mathematics and even went to a competition called ‘MATHCOUNTS’ and there was a reward: a trip to Disney World. This gave Wang the incentive and made math that much more enjoyable. After this competition he continued to join other math competitions because of how much he loved solving the equations. This then lead to him going into coding competitions and by doing all these competitions it laid the groundwork for his future company.
After many coding competitions in 2014, Wang, still a highschooler, was recruited by Addepar, which is one of the best companies in Silicone Valley at that time, as a software engineer. So, Wang moved from New Mexico to the Bay Area to go into work for them. He then worked his way up into Quora becoming their Tech Lead. After working for a little while, Wang was accepted into MIT and went there for a year and then dropped out.
Wang started Scale AI at the age of twenty-two after getting an investment from YCombinator. Scale AI is a program that helps and trains companies improve their AI. It is also a data analyzing program where it organizes and annotates raw data and then sends it off so AI can learn from it. There is also a ‘Scale Search Engine’ that uses Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback which is a training technique to give the AI the tools to answer questions in a human perspective. Some of Scale AI’s customers are Meta, Time, and Cisco. In 2025 Meta bought 49% of Scale AI and then Wang announced that he was leaving the CEO postion of Scale AI to work at Meta being their Chief AI Officer.

Alexandr Wang seems like a very influential Gen-Z Entrepreneur. His dedication to his career at such a young age seems like a key contributor to his business success. It is also interesting that he dropped out of MIT to pursue his career. Also, his utilization and improvement of AI technology is very fascinating.
So many great businesses have been born simply by having an incentive to do so, a reward. I appreciate how Wang took time to seek out what it truly was he wanted to do, even if that meant rising and falling throughout various points of the journey. This is truly inspirational to watch someone grow and reap wonderful benefits.
