Luke Buckberrough

Luke Buckberrough is a young startup founder and entrepreneur, best known as the co-founder of Glidance. Established in 2023, Glidance is focused on technology to aid people who are visually impaired. Before the great innovation of Glidance, Luke worked at several different companies. Among some of the more note-worthy ones are a Canadian fintech-startup NEO Financial (one of Canada’s fastest-growing startups), and he also served as Chief Growth Officer at another company, The Rubic. At age 21, Luke appeared on a podcast episode titled “The Art of Communication & Creating Your Own Destiny,” where he discussed starting businesses early, dropping out of university (twice), working in retail sales, entrepreneurship, cold-calling, and early business ventures. At Glidance, Luke took on the role of Co-Founder and Head of Growth. Their flagship product at Glidance was coined as Glide, the actual mechanism they use to help the impaired people. They held many ‘Demo Days’, as Luke called them, where community members with visual impairment could come and test out the Glide prototype. He did this so as to deliver expectations and joy of the customers. Soon after the ‘Demo Days’, Luke received a large amount of funds for more prototypes, approximately $1.5 million dollars. In early 2025, Glidance won the AI For Good Innovation Factory global competition, an award for impactful AI-driven solutions, marking a major external validation of the venture’s mission and technology. Luke’s and Glidance’s rise was very rapid, but that only highlights the drive and motivation Luke had for the company to succeed. Luke was inspired to create Glidance from his great empathy. From Luke Buckberrough, we can learn that vision and technology used to solve real-world problems can turn empathy into impactful innovation.

I think empathy is an extremely important skill for entrepreneurs. It is important to understand the target consumers sufferings and step into their shoes. It is partially through empathy that an impactful product can be produced.

Using new technology and AI to help the visually impaired is really innovative. Luke’s empathy when innovating is something we can all take from.
