Marsai Martin

When people think of Hollywood entrepreneurs, they usually imagine older directors or studio executives, not a kid. But Marsai Martin completely changed that idea when she became an executive producer at only thirteen years old. Most people knew her from the show Black-ish, but she didn’t just want to act. She wanted to create stories too. Instead of waiting until she was older, she went ahead and helped pitch and produce the movie Little in 2019. That made her the youngest film producer ever, something no one else in the movie world had done at her age. What makes her stand out isn’t just her age, but the way she treats filmmaking like a business. She started her own production company, Genius Productions, and focuses on movies that bring more representation and fun, positive stories for younger audiences. In a business that’s normally controlled by adults, she proved she could run things, make decisions, and actually get a whole movie into theaters before she was even in high school. Her success shows how fast the movie world is changing, and how young entrepreneurs can shape it by creating their own opportunities instead of waiting for permission.

I know it takes a lot of Creativity and willingness to command others to direct a project like a movie. She must have been very determined.
Marsai is such an inspiration, and to be working on such big title shows and films at such a young is very inspirational! Taking her want to tell stories and turning it into her own business is a very big business investment and she has executed it amazingly.
Incredible that at such a young age she was producing movies! I love how her passion for producing movies led her to start her business.
