Me and the Bees
Mikaila Ulmer is a young girl who had the idea of a very successful business after getting stung twice by a bee in one week when she was four years old. After being stung, Mikaila developed an increasing wonder of bees and the importance they play in our world. While she was learning all about bees, Mikaila was also using her great-grandmother’s lemonade recipe, which used honey to add extra flavor and sweetness. Mikaila then began to sell this unique lemonade and generously gave part of her earnings to organizations fighting to save and protect honeybees. Incredibly, when she was only 9 years old, Mikaila bravely entered the SharkTank TV show, where Daymond John agreed to invest $60,000 into her lemonade company! Since then, Mikaila has continued to grow her company, and her lemonade is now sold in thousands of stores across the country. This is such a perfect example of what it is to be an entrepreneur. A young girl with a passion and a dream was brave and aggressive. She overcame obstacles and fought hard, eventually creating a delicious product for consumers while simultaneously spreading awareness and creating safer lives for honeybees all over the United States.

The fact that Mikaila experienced a pain such as a bee sting, saw a need and took action to promote a new product demonstrates a purposeful plan! The willingness to invest in something so small as lemonade and mix it with a childhood experience adds a layer of meaning to the company, a story that clearly has appealed to many since the product launched. Well done!
