Ben Nowack- Reflect Orbital
Ben Nowack is a former SpaceX intern turned entrepreneur who is the founder and CEO of reflect orbital. Reflect orbital is a company that is focused on developing satellites that reflect light from the sun onto earth at night so that solar farms can get light after dark so that they can work all night just like they normally do during the day. This helps our planet to use clean energy throughout the day and not just during the night. It also contributes to areas with solar farms and rely on them. This allows the solar farms to be able to contribute to the overall power at night and not lose a portion of energy produced during the day in hope that too many people will need energy at night. Nowack’s idea helps to avoid blackouts at night if possible. Nowack also wants Reflect Orbital to eventually be able to have there be sunlight at night over cities. Nowack claims this will potentially cure seasonal depression which may even help people here in the Northeast eventually.
I am inspired by Nowack and can learn from him that you have to think outside of the box when it comes to getting your next big idea. He also has thought of ways beyond what you would typically see the use of solar energy for which is to provide energy in a clean sustainable way but Nowack has also thought of how to help people from common problems that science has not found much success in helping like potentially adding sunlight to dark sky’s to make seasonal depression not be as common. I think there is a lot of potential in profitability and growth in the clean and sustainable energy sector and Nowack is taking advantage of it and it is inspiring me to also potentially go down that path.

This is a super interesting concept. It is incredible to see the extent to which innovation and the pursuit of new ideas can take us as a civilization. Having a world with no night is something I never thought could be possible but that is part of the essence of entrepreneurship, making the impossible possible. I like that you mentioned how important it is to think outside the box, this is evidently true of Nowack, and I would also say is a very admirable trait. As students of entrepreneurship, we should see to replicate this trait in ourselves. Seeing things from a variety of different angles and perspectives will only benefit us as entrepreneurs and business people.
