Alana Andrews-SWEY

At only 8 years old, Alana Andrews was diagnosed as a prediabetic. Frightened by this diagnosis, Andrews vowed to live a healthier lifestyle in order to combat the diagnosis. She played tennis, ran track, and began to research and become greatly interested in nutrition. A major issue she found with sports nutrition had to do with sports drinks. She could not find any sports drinks that were not loaded with sugar or other artificial ingredients that are horrible for your body. She knew that athletes around the world were looking for a healthy way to replenish their bodies after a hard workout that did not have to be some sort of drink loaded with sugar. She did not think it made sense to consume something that would just negate all of the progress she had made during her workout. So, she decided to launch her own brand and sports drink, SWEY (Strong, Wise, Energetic, Youth). SWEY is designed to refuel athletes’ bodies without the extreme amounts of sugar and artificial ingredients that you find in other sports drinks. Her drink contains only 25-30 calories in a 16.9-ounce bottle, which is far less than what you find in any other drink. She uses all natural fruit flavors in her drinks that also contain vitamins A, B, and E, magnesium, and zinc. There is coconut juice and monk fruit in her drinks that add flavor to it. Both of these ingredients are all natural and much better for an athlete in comparison to artificial sugars. She launched her product in 2021 and it instantly sold out as it was a great success. Athletes all around loved her product as they finally had a healthy way to replenish their bodies after a difficult workout. Andrews’s idea was very innovative and has become a hit.
