Bilal Bin Saquib
Bilal Bin Saquib has proven to be an exemplary entrepreneur because he designed a website that connects restaurants, individuals, and catering companies with people in need, by using any leftovers and giving it to charity, which in turn provides it to the hungry. This system streamlines donation processes, thus making it easier for people to provide for those in need. Originally, his website, Tayaba.org, was designed to provide water, the most important gift to people living in Africa, or the middle east. He was inspired to create his website, when he witnessed the struggles that the women went through in Burkina Faso, as they were forced to walk several miles everyday, through the heat of the dessert, to find clean water. This lead to the creation of the H2O wheel, which is able to roll heavy containers of water, instead of having to carry it. However, when Saquib realized that he could branch out and provide food as well as water to the poor, he worked that into his website. It is truly innovating, because it not only prevents food waste, but helps feed the poor at the same time. If not for this app, many restaurants and caterers would simply throw away the food, which could still have been used to feed people. Saquib demonstrates several entrepreneurial qualities, because he saw a need and he found a workable solution, that creates a serious impact on hunger and poverty. His app, in addition to directly helping solve the problem, it also raises awareness so other people can help too. Saquib inspires me to think entrepreneurially by reminding me that sometimes the solution to a problem is not that difficult, if you just take the time to think it through. Finally, Saquib’s story has helped me learn that sometimes the biggest innovations have the smallest solutions, like giving food to charity. We just need to remember it.

It is so cool how he managed to connect people over different cultures and was able to give them something to give back to the community with. Especially with the leftovers! Also seeing the problem with getting the water being very laborious and being able to solve it is very inspiring!
