Jordan Casey

From a young age, Jordan Casey stood out. By 9 years old, he was teaching himself HTML and coding, and by 12, he released his first game: Alien Ball vs Humans. This made him one of Europe’s youngest iOS app-developers. What’s special about Jordan is his early start and his ability to turn childhood curiosity into serious entrepreneurship.

What drives him seems to be a deep curiosity about how technology works, coupled with an intense desire to build. He once said that after creating a fan-site for a game he loved, he realized coding could be more than a hobby. This was his first step to becoming an entrepreneur. Another example of Jordan Casey following passion into entrepreneurship is when he created “KidsCode”, a multiplayer, programming-learning virtual world that combined fun, social interaction and education so kids could learn to code while collaborating and creating. While he took the route of following his passions into entrepreneurship, he also used the “finding a problem and solving it” avenue. For an example of this, he built tools like “TeachWare” which was a cloud-based app to help teachers manage student data. This was created because he noticed one of his teachers was having trouble with keeping logs of attendance and grades.

Entrepreneurial traits Jordan exhibits could include self-teaching, initiative, adaptability, vision, and resilience. He learned to code on his own, founded companies while still in school, and even when others might have dismissed him due to his age, he persisted. He’s also innovating by treating technology as a leveling platform: allowing children or anyone with curiosity to access coding and create, making education, creation and entrepreneurship more accessible. For example, KidsCode transforms learning programming into a social, game-like experience.

I find Jordan’s story inspiring because I’m also interested in entrepreneurship, business, and learning new skills. Jordan shows that you don’t need to wait for perfect timing or age: if you see a need, have curiosity, and act, you can build something meaningful. His path even encourages me to think across disciplines and explore combining things like tech, business, entrepreneurship, languages, and social games, into whatever I pursue in life. Not to mention, he also gives a tremendous example on why taking initiative early can really pay off.

I can’t believe he managed to teach himself coding at nine years old!
