Josh Feinsilber – Gimkit
Josh Feinsilber founded Gimkit as a high-school junior in 2017. In a recent reflection of his on this time before he launched Gimkit, he said “I don’t know the best way to describe this, but I want to work on doing stuff that’s memorable. As a student, I think there are a lot of ways that school could be better. But there’s some of those moments, those that stick with you and that you’ll always remember. Those moments have been the most profound to me. I’d love to make more of those.” He said he started Gimkit because he was pretty “bored and unengaged in class,” and he wanted to make learning “memorable and engaging.” He then spent the next week thinking and drawing out what Gimkit could possibly look like. Him and his friend, Jeff, eventually locked in a mission and vision for this platform. This was to create memorable learning experiences. He then began coding. He used JavaScript and Spine. Over time this platform took off. He launched different modes and updates that only made it more fun and engaging. Today, Gimkit is used in schools of many educational levels across the country. Both students and teachers have realized how useful of an asset it is to have a platform that simply makes learning captivating and enjoyable, in a profound way. Today, Josh Feinsilber’s net worth is an estimated $4 million.

One of the first pioneers in making learning an actually fun activity. Good for him!
I used Gimkit a ton in high school! it’s cool to hear about where the service came from!
I remember when I was first introduced to Gimkit. It was so much fun compared to the “competition.” Most other online school games only had one game mode, and this brought to the table so many more. Good memories with the drawing game!
I used GimKit growing up, its cool to learn about how it all started.
I used GimKit in high school for my Spanish class and it was the only thing that I looked forward to doing! Loved learning about the history of the making if this game by Josh Feinsilber.
I found it really interesting how he was able to take his problem and solve it while at the same time recognizing that others have the same issue and marketing it to the same people who feel like he did.
