Jaffry Mallari: Resurgence

When Jaffry Mallari was in high school, he began running a YouTube channel. To create graphics, such as a logos and thumbnails, he taught himself. He quickly learned that he enjoyed graphic design more than creating content, so he quit YouTube.

A year later, he noticed that his peers were all wearing a custom hat with a simple graphic that a popular senior made. After doing some research, he found that the senior was selling the hats for $40. He thought that with his graphic design experience, he could make hats for $25 and sell more of them. He called his brand “NGHTPRWL”.

Mallari put his time into understanding photography, photoshop, sourcing, making a website. and marketing. He got his first sale 6 hours later from a random man from the internet. However, his friends who promised to buy from him bailed, which was a disappointment. Due to not having customers, he shut down NGHTPRWL to focus on his grades.

After graduating high school, Mallari went to college. He quickly realized that college was not the route he wanted to take. He never wanted to work a small paycheck job again, so he set out to find a solution. In January 2017, he founded a new brand, “Resurgence”.

I am inspired by Mallari’s determination to find a career that he is passionate about!

Really cool how Jaffry was able to become such a master at his craft with using online design cites and YouTube posts. With these being such growing and popular platforms, Jaffry is smart to take advantage of his resources.

Loved this inspiring story of Jaffry being able bounce back from having to abandon his idea. While life throws us curveballs, the only thing we can do is to keep moving forward. Jaffry was able to set aside his idea until more opportune times arrived.
