Rana Hajirasouli is the founder and CEO of The Surpluss, a Singaporean climate-tech company designed to assist governments and businesses in trading and selling excess materials. With 13 years of experience, 32-year-old Rana is seen as an expert on climate change, sustainability, and the circular economy. Rana designed The Surpluss in 2021 to achieve its goal through a multi-step consultation process. The Surpluss team will assess your company, identify areas of waste, and then connect your company with buyers, empowering you to transform your “waste” into an additional revenue stream. Rana is a passionate advocate for the circular economy, an economic model that aims to reduce waste by extending the use of resources as long as possible. She believes that “waste” is an untapped economic asset that could be utilized for profit, rather than pollution. “Waste is a mispriced asset. The key to closing the circularity gap is to financialize surplus materials—treating them like commodities rather than liabilities”-Rana Hajirasouli. Rana’s beliefs led her to found The Surpluss, which eventually expanded into a global network with a $3,000,000 valuation. The Surpluss has been extremely successful in its field, winning first place in the Circular Economy Category at the 2025 BRICS Solution Awards and acquiring its B Corp Certification in 2023. Today, Rana continues her mission with an emphasis on “The Race to Zero”, a global campaign to reduce the waste of companies and reform business practices for a healthier future. Rana’s passion and commitment empower businesses through innovative solutions and the ability to contribute positively to our environmental future.

The goal of neutralizing/utilizing waste is so crazy important. The change that would take place if everyone, large companies especially, worked together to reshape our view on expended resources would be dramatic so I appreciate that Hajirasouli is seeking a way to approach the topic innovatively. Also, love to see a boss woman killing it.
