Langston Whitlock: SAFETRIP
Langston Whitlock is a 16-year-old entrepreneur known for his medical transportation business, SAFETRIP. He used his skills in software engineering to program an app that allows people to book non-emergent transportation to the hospital. Each client pays for the service through their regular insurance. His co-founder, Ja’Nese Jean noticed his talent in software engineering and invited him to be a co-founder of the SAFETRIP company. His business has become very successful in the state of Georgia, and he hopes it will grow to be available in even more states.
Although he found success with SAFETRIP, it was not Langston’s first project. His first attempt at coding was for an anonymous messaging system to try to make contact with his absent biological father. This first attempt taught him not only a lot about entrepreneurship, but also how to try and fail. His troubled childhood taught him to trust in God for all his needs. This faith gives him the resilience to run his business. He believes strongly that God will provide all the resources that he needs.
Langston has learned to be very humble. He is not afraid to ask adults for help and advice. This is part of what has made his business so successful. He is not intimidated by being the youngest in the room. Instead, his passion for SAFETRIP gives him the confidence he needs to run his business. He is surrounded by many people who support and encourage him. He thinks this support system is a vital part of running a business. He also believes that doing what you are good at is following your calling.
Langston stands out among his peers. He is not afraid to make big impact on the world even though he is a kid. Also, his faith in God seems to fuel his business, which is very admirable. Overall, I find his story to be inspiring.
