Zack Weiner
Zack Weiner is the co founder of Overtime, they are a sports media company that makes videos and content for younger sports fans. Weiner started as a student at the University of Pennsylvania; he made a company called The Sports Quotient. The company was made so that college students could make sports content and eventually grew to hundreds of writers. Even though the company eventually shut down, Weiner learned from the experience and used it to help with his next business.
2016 is when Weiner founded Overtime with Dan Porter when he was 24 years old. Instead of competing with traditional sports networks, Overtime focused on younger fans and how they consume sports. The company created made videos for social media apps like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok and also focused on young athletes and their lives outside of sports.
What I find most interesting about Weiner is that he learned from his first business instead of giving up after it failed. He realized that having people create content is not enough if there is not an audience that wants to watch it. He used this lesson with Overtime by figuring out what younger fans wanted and building the business around them. This shows how important it is for entrepreneurs to learn from their mistakes and change their ideas when something does not work. Another thing that stands out to me is how Weiner combined his interest in sports with social media. Overtime eventually grew beyond social media content into sports leagues, including Overtime Elite, a basketball league for young players.
I can relate to Weiner’s story because I am also interested in sports. His story shows me that entrepreneurship can come from taking something you already know and finding a different way to approach it. His experience also reminds me that a business idea does not have to work the first time, and failure can help you figure out what to do differently next time.

His story is a very interesting story. Overtime is one of my top sources when it comes to sports news, and learning the story behind it is really cool.
