Hart Main

Hart Main was 13 years old when he jokingly suggested he was going to start a business making “manly” scented candles. As funny as it may have been, it quickly became a huge entrepreneurial effort. Hart started ManCans, using soup cans that he donated the soup inside to local shelters. By the time Hart was 17, he had ManCans in over 150 stores across the country and made over $200,000 annually on sales. Some of the scents include sawdust, opening day of baseball, and dirt, all very unique. Now, ManCans is listed on several online retailers, making the business more accessible. Hart has since wrote a book on his success and has attended Kent State for economics.

I think this is a good business idea since a lot of men like to have houses or apartments that smell good, but so often candles have scents that wouldn’t fit them. This way, men can have smells that are more masculine going around their home. I also think one of these would be great at somewhere like a cabin having the pancake scent.

This is a very interesting story because this guy went straight off of a hunch. I like how you included that he still went to Kent state even though he had already started his own business he was still humble enough to gain even more knowledge.
