Noa Mintz – Nannies by Noa
In 2011, 12-year-old Noa Mintz founded Nannies by Noa. Nannies by Noa is a New York based company that matches families to qualified babysitters.
Childcare is a huge market in New York City. With high living costs and busy parents working full-time, having the time to watch your kids becomes difficult. Many families hire a nanny or rely on babysitters to manage their kids. Unfortunately, finding a trusted babysitter with the proper qualifications can be difficult and extremely time-consuming. Additionally, finding a babysitter that matches your family well and fits your specific standards is nearly impossible in the busy New York City environment.
Noa Mintz recognized this problem when she was only 12 years old. With these problems in mind, she created Nannies by Noa. It is described as “A boutique Nanny and Newborn Care placement agency that carefully and mindfully matches qualified, dedicated care providers with families in the New York City and Tri-State area” (nanniesbynoa.com).
Noa’s idea is unique because it focuses on matching the family to the babysitter, as opposed to most businesses where they are only paired based on availability. “A great nanny acts as an extension of you in your absence, supporting your values and preferences, and aligning with your parenting style and philosophies to provide a secure, safe, and united home” (nanniesbynoa.com).
Noa has demonstrated entrepreneurial traits from a very young age. From lemonade stands to art classes, she began innovating as young as third grade.
I am inspired by Noa because of the care she took to make sure families were matched with nannies. She prioritized an easy to navigate interface for busy families to save time. Although Noa is no longer at the forefront of her company, stepping away to pursue higher education, she still created and built an incredible business that helped a great need.
