Shubham Banerjee– Cheap Braille for everyone!

Shubham created a very interesting invention when he was 12 years old! He realized many sight impaired people could not use braille, since they did not know how. However he also realized that many people could not afford the replacements for braille since they were high tech and costed a lot. He claims that braille can not get replaced since only it can let the sight impaired understand punctuation and grammar. This brings us to his invention that helped bring back braille. The issue was that the printers were so expensive that many could not afford. So, he got to work with his robot set and started making prototypes. His new printer costed only 200 bucks to make, a huge improvement! It was much cheaper than the hi-tech alternatives.

Banerjee shows that there is a huge demand for things that are often overlooked. People with sight issues are often ignored, and looking into that problem and coming up with a solution can go a long way!

Shubham’s invention is really inspiring because he saw a problem and found an affordable way to fix it. Its really cool that he was able to make a Braille printer at such a young age. His story shows how creativity can solve problems that are often overlooked, especially for people in communities that are underserved.
