Alina Morse – Zollipops

Born in America in 2005, Alina Morse started Zollipops at just 10 years old in 2015. One time when she was 9 years old, she went on a bank errand with her father and was given a lollipop. This got her thinking about how sugary normal lollipops and other candy are, and how they are very bad for your teeth. She thought of creating a healthier candy option for kids. Her parents encouraged her to follow through with her idea and so Alina researched ingredients and methods of making all natural, sugar-free, and oral-health friendly candy. When she figured out the recipe she wanted to use, she named her idea Zollipops. “Zolly” came from a name for sugar-free candy in Germany and “pops” came from, of course, lollipops. This recipe that she finally settled on even helped raise the pH levels in your mouth to create a healthier environment.

Alina started her business online and in local stores, but it quickly took off, and she got her product in bigger name companies such as Amazon, Walmart, and Whole Foods. Today her product can be found across the nation in thousands of stores. She also added new products to her collection, including Zolli Drops and Zaffi Taffy, keeping her focus on dental health. While doing all this Alina had to manage normal schoolwork and competitive dance practice. Her dad was one of the people who helped her through navigate this difficult time, and who taught her all of the business knowledge she needed to be CEO of her own business.

In recognition of her success, Aline Morse was invited to the White House twice. Here she met Michelle Obama and discussed her dreams for the future and what she hoped to accomplish with her business. She has also been featured in Forbes, TIME, and Business Insider. Alina also wished to give back to other people and to become a good influence, so she started Million Smiles Initiative. Through this program she donates her products to schools to help educate the children about good dental hygiene. In the future, Alina Morse hopes to take her products internationally, and to continue teaching kids about dental hygiene.

Alina is very inspiring! To be so young and thinking about how to help with curbing cavities from eating a lot of candy, but not wanting to cut candy completely out. This idea can change so many people’s health and can save them money because they aren’t having to get their children’s cavities taken care of. Also balancing a full schedule and building her business is so impressive because she kept going and didn’t give up on her extra curriculars or her business.

Alina seems like a brilliant entrepreneur. It’s cool to hear about such a young entrepreneur doing cool things like this and actually stepping and doing something about a problem in her life. I have never heard of Zollipops before but after reading this, it makes me want to look into it more and consider buying a lollipop.
