Millie Bobby Brown – Florence by Mills
Successful actress and business owner?
In 2015, 11-year-old Millie Bobby Brown kicked off her acting career with the hit show Stranger Things. Milly quickly gained much fame and has gone on to star in many other movies and shows. She started Florence by Mills, a beauty brand named for her grandmother in 2020. Milly began with skincare and makeup targeted to a younger audience after struggling to find appropriate products while entering the spotlight. Florence by Mills has since expanded to offering fragrances and hair care. The brand has seen incredible success and made between $20 million and $30 million.
Florence by Mills differs from other brands because she targeted a specific problem of a specific audience. She is part of Gen Z, so she understands the wants and needs of Gen Z. The advertising and brand image are playful and relaxed, and the prices are a reflection of what younger adults and teens are willing to spend on beauty products.
Millie is growing her brand with her; it is aimed at people her age and their wants and needs. As she ages and her lifestyle shifts, so does her brand. She is also very open about ethically sourcing all products and keeping Florence by Mills “clean” and cruelty free, as well as using sustainable packaging. Unlike many celebrity brands, Millie is actively involved in what products are sold and how, she is much more than just the face of the brand.
I find Millie inspiring because she saw a need that she had and created a solution accessible to others facing that need. If we all tried to solve a need that we ourselves have, how many other people could end up benefiting? Millie is changing the game for celebrity brands and is a unique innovator!

I love how you talked about Millie using her youth as a marketing and brand tactic. She is a fantastic example of a young entrepreneur seizing the opportunities she was given and expanding her acting career into the field of cosmetics!
I think it is really smart when people who are already well know start a business and use their name and image like her.
I really like how you highlighted that Millie Bobby Brown created Florence by Mills to solve a problem she personally faced. She used her image and fame to make a real difference for others her age.
It is cool to see how Millie used her influence from her film talent to promote her skincare business. The fact that her target is people her own age is also interesting, giving her business a sense of relatability.
Millie is a very inspiring entrepreneur because she is successful in so many other things, including her acting career. She is a great influence on Gen-Z businesses because her business grows with Gen-Z.
