Austen Chu- Wristcheck
Austen Chu is a Hong Kong based entrepreneur. He focuses specifically on selling pre-owned luxury watches online with the mission to sell with “transparency, trust, and accessibility” in a market where dishonest and fraud are all too common. He started Wristcheck in 2020 and opened the first flagship store in Hong Kong in 2021, since then they gave grown to have over $80 million in consignment watches. This hasn’t all come easy to Chu, he stated in an interview that, “being young in the watch space comes with challenges including being ignored and dismissed by dealers.” This however hasn’t stopped him from working hard to gain their respect but instead has become one of his main motivations.

As someone who is always buying things second hand, having a service where you can be certain that what you’re purchasing is genuine is something that’s severely undervalued, and needs to be more common! very interesting!
I like the idea of bringing honesty to markets that have poor reputations when it comes to integrity. I can think of a few industries that could benefit from more honest entrepreneurs. When I looked up the Wristcheck website, it was obvious that there was effort put into making the watch buyers experience simpler and more accessible.
