Mikaila Ulmer: Me & the Bees Lemonade

Mikaila Ulmer’s story is special because she didn’t just start a business to make money. She started her business to solve a real problem. When she was only four years old, she learned about how bees were going extinct and how that would change our environment in major ways. She came across her grandmother’s old lemonade recipe. Instead of just seeing these things as random, she made a purpose: create lemonade that tastes good and supports bee conservation. This is how Me & the Bees Lemonade started. What’s unique about Mikaila is her mindset. Most people wait until they’re older to take action, she didn’t. She used what she had, which was a recipe, curiosity, and a purpose, and turned it into something larger than herself. What drives her isn’t just money, but impact, and that’s what makes her idea great. She took something simple and made it deliver value. Mikaila demonstrates key entrepreneurial traits: creativity, courage, persistence, and the ability to communicate her mission. Getting her product into Whole Foods at such a young age didn’t happen by accident. It took pitching, networking, and believing in her vision even when others might have underestimated her because of her age. Her story inspires me personally in how I approach my own entrepreneurship journey. She shows that innovation often comes from combining what you care about with what you’re good at. For me, with football, training, and motivating others, I’m reminded to build something that reflects my values and helps others grow, not just something to get attention. The main principle I learned from Mikaila is this: purpose drives longevity. When your business solves a real problem and stands for something bigger, it will always have meaning — and meaning is what keeps you going.

It’s incredible that a 4 year old was able to make money and help an important part of our ecosystem like Ulmer did. I bet the lemonade is really good too.
I really enjoyed this blog post purely because it portrays an extreme example that business success has no age limit. Ulmer is a perfect example of the qualities a young entrepreneur should have.
