Aadit Palicha: A College Dropout Turned Successful Entrepreneur
Aadit Palicha, born 2001 in Mumbai, was given an opportunity of a lifetime: the opportunity to study Computer Science at one of the world’s most prestigious universities, Stanford. However, throughout his time at the college he increasingly believed that his time and resources would be better spent in entrepreneurship, solving problems back in his homeland of India. As a result, he made the risky decision to drop out of Stanford, and while that would not be a great decision for most people it ended up being well worth the risk for him.
In 2020, the COVID pandemic hit, and a major need arose in India for faster and more efficient delivery services since it was unsafe to go get groceries and food. By using micro-warehouses strategically placed in urban areas, Palicha was able to make a bold promise: that orders would be delivered within 10 minutes. He was able to do this through a hyper-local model, where products that customers frequently purchased were kept close to them so that they could be swiftly delivered once ordered. As a result, this new “quick commerce” sector grew rapidly and his company, Zepto, grew into one of India’s leading companies in the industry.
Zepto was founded at a very tricky time to found any company, during the pandemic. However, the company has quickly expanded, and now serves 66 cities with 1,139 stores, and reaches around 50 million customers per year. Before he founded that company though, Palicha had multiple failed ventures, including GoPool and KiranaKart, but he kept persisting and pivoting until he found a niche that worked. This really shows how important it is as entrepreneurs to be flexible and not give up just because one idea fails.
Palicha’s story is inspiring because it shows that sometimes as an entrepreneur you need to make risky decisions, and you need to show adaptability and persistence. If you maintain those qualities, the chances are, it’ll end up paying off for you as it did for Palicha.

I love the adaptability aspects of this guy, to be able to bounce back after multiple failed attempts and to have the guts to drop out and follow a hunch is incredible, can definitely learn some things from this guy. Good job, thanks for sharing.
Aadit Palicha’s story is amazing! You did a very good job explaining his whole journey. I think it is super cool that he dropped out of college and ended up being super successful. That just goes to show you do not need to go to college to be successful. I also found it interesting that he had two fail ventures before, but he kept going and eventually found something that worked for him. I found this post very inspiring.
To have products be delivered strikes me as one of those dreams that would never gain traction. It amazes me how persistent this man way to bring the adjacent possible to light and follow through with a vision that was probably ignored by some people at the start. I wonder what what going through his mind when his first few ventures failed. I wonder if there was a period of regret for dropping out of a prestigious school.
Good job Brendon! This guy created a good business in a location that meant something to him, that’s a cool story to pick up on! I know I have always loved when people are able to build something to care for people who’ve cared for them, and the fact that he started this business in his hometown really shows that, good job!
Aadit Palicha sounds like an amazing and bold guy. To decide to leave Stanford to become an entrepreneur is a very hard decision with an amazing outcome. Aadit’s insight to start a “quick commerce” store during Covid fulfilled an immediate need. Also, using covid as a means to generate income is a very hard strategy that even the best corporations failed at, yet he planned well and succeeded.
