Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)

Alexandra Scott was born with a childhood cancer called neuroblastoma. This type of cancer is one which affects the sympathetic nervous system. From the time she was born, Alex was in and out of hospitals to receive treatment and try to improve her health. During her recovery after a stem cell transplant, Alex told her mom that she wanted to begin a lemonade stand to rais money to help kids like her. Just a few months later, Alex ran her first lemonade stand and raised over $2,000 for pediatric cancer research. This first lemonade stand was just the beginning of Alex’s cause gaining popularity. She and her family began having lemonade stands every summer to raise money, eventually raising over $1 million just before her passing away at 8 years old. Since then, the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has continued raising money for childhood cancer research through hosting fundraising events.

I really liked reading your post about Alexandra Scott because it is amazing how much she was able to accomplish at such a young age. I think it is crazy that her first lemonade stand raised over $2,000 and eventually grew into something that raised over $1 million. Her story shows that even a small idea can make a huge difference when you care about something. I also really liked how her foundation continued her mission even after she passed away.

I have heard of Alex’s lemonade stands and supported some that my neighbors would participate in, but I never really knew the story behind it. I think this is awesome because Alexandra is leaving behind a legacy that is so much bigger than she could have imagined and her story and battle with cancer is being used to raise money and awareness to help others like herself. Sometimes all you need is a desire to make a difference and leave the world better than you found it.

I like Alexandra Scott’s story because she turned her own difficult experience with cancer into a way to help other children. you explained everything so well with while keeping the information small. I’m glad she found a reason to do what she felt was the right thing to do.
