$400 to $150,000 in One Summer

Jacob Shaidle is a 21-year-old entrepreneur who started a BBQ grill cleaning business at the age of 15. His company quickly grew over just one summer starting with a $400 side hustle, to over $150,000. He was a kid who loved physical labor and working hard, and this business was a way for him to make some money and enjoy what he was doing. Before he started his BBQ cleaning endeavors, he worked full-time summers at a tree farm. He wanted to attend college, so his parents said he had to figure out a way to pay for it himself. So that’s when he decided to start up this business in 2021. He started with his family’s BBQ grill, and after he had done such a good job on their grill, his mother encouraged him to go door-to-door and make a job out of his grill cleaning.

After starting his business, Shaidle has serviced 4,000+ homes and has 500+ five-star reviews. Today he is a full-time student during school, and full-time self-employed worker in the Summer. This is a very inspiring story to me that shows just how far we can go by starting with such small, unexpected ideas.

I think it’s awesome how he had motivation to work hard and do the tasks well. It was great that his parents encouraged him to work to pay for college! The fact that he was confident enough to service over 4,000 homes before he could drive is amazing and a great reminder to be confidant when we have a skill God has blessed us with.

Love this! Jacob combined his passion for loving to work and used his talent of hard work to be an entreprenuer! It makes it much easier to one be passionate about what you do but also have a goal in mind like jacob did to pay for college! This outlook gives him tools to be successful.

4000+ homes?!?! Shaidle is, to put it plainly, a superhuman chasing after the adjacent possible. I chuckled when I read that his mom’s encouragement was what got him started. Goes to show that you can turn an enjoyable ‘chore’ into a working business that yields high revenue. He did not invent this idea, but embodies the characteristic of an entrepreneur that finds the market of people to help an idea gain traction.
