Ava’s Pet Palace
Ava’s Pet Palace is an all-natural and organic pet treat company. Its treats are made for dogs and cats and always contain seven ingredients or fewer. Some products include classic treats like biscuits and freeze-dried bites. The company also has a product called a “Barkento Box,” which is like a bento box filled with dog treats. In addition, Ava’s Pet Palace donates to pet rescue organizations as a way to give back.
The company was started by Ava Dorsey, who is now 18 years old. Dorsey started Ava’s Pet Palace at an extremely young age. At age 6, she imagined and drew her own palace for animals. This drawing served as inspiration for her future company. In 2016, when Dorsey was just 8 years old, her company officially launched. After spending some time researching recipes and learning which foods were safe for pets to eat, she began making dog and cat biscuits at home. She used her own pets and her neighbors’ pets as testers.
Dorsey’s company didn’t stay in her home kitchen for long. In 2019, Ava’s Pet Palace treats began being sold in stores, and in 2021, she secured the funding to begin making the treats in a commercial kitchen.
Even after massive growth, Dorsey’s original three recipes for Ava’s Pet Palace, cheese, banana, and peanut biscuits, are still available for purchase and remain some of the company’s best-sellers.
Dorsey’s story is inspiring to me because of just how young she was when she started, and I find it very commendable she’s still working hard everyday to achieve her goal for her company.

Love this post! I find it crazy that she launched this business when she was only 8 years old. I think it is also super impressive how careful she was when she was starting out. She did her research on what foods are safe for pets, and then actually tested them on her pets, and some in her area. Even though it is such a small scale, that initial product testing probably helped gain some trustworthiness and traction in the early stages of the business. I also love that some of her best sellers are still her original recipes. It is cool that even after growth she is sticking with what worked for her in the beginning.

I really like this idea and its fun to think of something that started in someone’s home growing to be what it is now, and also that she kept up with it through the years till it became a larger business. I also really like the fun story of the name and how she was able to tie it into the business.
